Judging Room – Updated 08709

Quilt Holders: Two sets of two holders – to bring quilts from holding table by category into the judging room and hold them as the judge directs.  They will then deposit quilts released by the judge onto the proper table outside of the judging room.  As two are holding for viewing and judging, then staying with the quilt until it is delivered to the release table.  The next two holders will have a quilt ready to be judged.  The two holders also take the judge’s critique sheet to the release table.

Scribes: Four persons alternate as scribes to write the judge’s comments on the sheet prepared in advance.  This job requires that you have decent penmanship and good spelling so the judge will be able to review her comments before releasing the quilt.

Check out table: One person will sit outside the Judging Room, receive judged quilts, mark off each quilt on the master list, and make a list of winners. One person will pin the ribbon on the winning quilts and hand the quilts to a runner to move the quilts to the hanging area.  One person at the table outside the Judging Room is to receive the critique sheets from the quilt holders and insert them in envelopes (prepared in advance with names of all entrants on the envelope – alphabetized) and check them off against the master sheet.  Make sure winners of special categories are marked on the individual sheets.
